PEARS

The main focus of the Seattle and Tacoma American Heart Association PEARS classes, courses, and training is prevention, and specifically the assessment, recognition, and stabilization of pediatric patients at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress.  Professionals will develop skills in recognizing specific pediatric distress signs and symptoms.  Since typical PEARS students do not regularly treat critically ill children, the course utilizes video based simulation combined with small group learning stations so that they can actually see and hear critically ill children.
Core course content includes: the pediatric chain of survival, circulatory and respiratory compromise and management, shock recognition and management, and the resuscitation team concept.

Course Audience: Healthcare Professionals Providing Emergent Direct or Supportive Pediatric Patient Care.
Course Preperation: Current BLS-HCP Course Completion Cards, Review PEARS Provider Manual
